Pandemic Playdate at the Park

Last week's outing was more Play Date than Field Trip. Youngest Boy was SO excited to see his BFF and I was equally excited to spend time with one of my favorite mom friends.

Social interaction is currently a challenge to navigate - especially when you A. take the pandemic thing seriously, and B. feel like you're surrounded by people who don't.  But I have no intention of staying cooped up in the house forever and want to take advantage of the beautiful weather as of late.

My friend suggested meeting at Potter's Bridge Park, which is a place I somehow forget about.  It was perfect - an empty, shaded playground that's only about a ten minute drive from our house.  The time went by fast - I enjoyed therapeutic conversation with a human being outside my family who understands me, and the boys enjoyed running, climbing and playing Pirate together.

It was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon and we are looking forward to the next play date! In the meantime, I've secured a free parks pass (if you have a fourth grader you can get one too) and hope to make a plan to visit what we can throughout the next year.

Our Nature Walk was nice enough to come to us this week - an advantage of living on a ravine and spending so much time in the room overlooking it. Oldest Boy even knew where his binoculars were and everyone took turns with them without arguing or fighting or anything.

I'm not sure how well sarcasm translates in writing.

Here's hoping for more play dates, outdoor adventures and observing nature from the couch.
